If you had service before
Reset iPhone (home + power)
Reset Network Settings
Remove Sim Card, Reinsert
or call AT&T

it needs to be activated
reset iPhone
connect the phone to the computer
open itunes
itunes should activate the phone
if you can not activate
restore iphone
